Description

The EN10305 E355 precision steel tube is a high-performance cold rolled ERW carbon steel tubing specifically engineered for critical automotive applications, including fuel injection systems and shock absorber components. Manufactured in strict accordance with European standard EN10305, this precision tube combines advanced cold rolling technology with electric resistance welding (ERW) to deliver exceptional dimensional accuracy, superior surface finish, and consistent mechanical properties.

 

Material Grade and Properties

The E355 steel grade (1.0580) offers excellent mechanical characteristics suitable for demanding automotive environments. With a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa and tensile strength ranging from 490 to 630 MPa, this tubing provides the strength and durability required for high-pressure fuel injection systems and dynamic shock absorber assemblies. The low carbon content and tightly controlled chemical composition—carbon max 0.22%, manganese max 1.60%, phosphorus and sulfur each limited to 0.025%—ensure outstanding weldability, formability, and dimensional stability throughout the manufacturing process.

Automotive Applications

Fuel Injection Systems: The smooth internal surface and precise dimensional accuracy ensure consistent fuel flow and proper sealing within injector assemblies. The high pressure resistance of E355 grade withstands the demanding operating conditions of modern fuel injection systems.

Shock Absorber Components: The excellent concentricity and uniform wall thickness provide reliable damping performance and extended service life. The superior surface finish reduces friction between moving parts, enhancing ride comfort and component durability.

 

Process

These precision tubes are produced from cold rolled carbon steel strips that are formed and electric resistance welded into pre-tubes. The ERW process creates a consistent longitudinal weld seam that is subsequently refined through cold rolling and cold drawing operations. This manufacturing sequence eliminates internal weld beads, improves concentricity, and achieves tight dimensional tolerances with superior surface quality. The cold rolling process also enhances the grain structure and mechanical properties, resulting in a tube that performs reliably under extreme conditions.

 

Quality Assurance

Each tube undergoes comprehensive testing to verify compliance with EN10305 standards. Testing protocols include tensile tests, flattening tests, drift expanding tests, dimensional inspections, roughness measurements, and non-destructive testing (eddy current and ultrasonic methods). Leak-tightness verification ensures reliability for fluid power applications.
